CRANE EXPERT SERVICES
Crane Inspections
Cranes are classified as work equipment and are therefore subject to the German Industrial Safety Regulation (BetrSichV). This requires regular inspections, which must be carried out at least once per year by a qualified crane expert.
In addition, all applicable DGUV regulations must be observed. Load handling attachments such as lifting beams, grabs or hooks are also subject to periodic inspection. These inspections include both functional testing and the review of documentation such as inspection records and risk assessments.
Three types of inspections are distinguished:
- Initial inspection prior to commissioning
- Inspection following significant modifications or repairs
- Periodic inspections, usually on an annual basis
Expert Reports and Damage Assessment
Despite comprehensive safety measures, accidents and incidents may still occur. In such cases, the resulting damage must be assessed by a certified crane expert. Based on this expert evaluation, the further course of action can be defined.
Whether and under which conditions a damaged crane may continue to operate can only be determined following a thorough technical assessment.
